Music Monday – Poking Fun

Heading into work this morning, I was wondering what my focus was going to be for this week’s Music Monday.  I opened my email and a friend had sent me an email with two YouTube videos: Write Like The Wind and Game of Thrones Payphone parody.  I decided it was a sign that this week should be parodies/funny songs, so in a addition to these two, I’m going to add some Weird Al and the Peterson brothers.

A funny original song about the fans wanting George R. R. Martin to write more, convention less so he can complete his A Song of Ice and Fire novels.  I love this series and am completely on board with this song.

Like Weird Al, I could never quite figure out what Kurt and his buddies were saying or singing about in “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, but I liked the music a lot.  Love this parody!

Game of Thrones (Maroon 5 Payphone parody)

I don’t like Adam Levine or Maroon 5, but this is a great parody.  It’s got some great lyrics that people who are fans of the show will understand…as will most people who’ve never watched the show.

I got passion for my plants and I ain’t afraid to show it show it show it show it

Again, I’m not a huge fan of LMFAO, but the Peterson brothers managed to parody this song into a sort of farming PSA.

Polka Face by Weird Al Yankovic

This is a single song that manages to parodies over ten songs including Poker Face (Lady Gaga), Womanizer (Britney Spears), I Kissed A Girl (Katy Perry), and Need You Now (Lady Antebellum).
