Monday’s #MorningMusic Wrap-Up – August 3 – 9, 2015

August 3rd

‘Cause the walls were shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were making it and you

from “You Shook Me All Night Long” by AC/DC

This is one of those anomalies…a rock song by AC/DC that became a staple at school dances in the 80s.

August 4th

I realize what life is all about
It’s hanging on when your heart has had enough
It’s giving more when you feel like giving up

from “In My Daughter’s Eyes” by Martina McBride

One of the great songs about reflecting on life when you have a child.  It certainly changes how you see things…your goals and dreams, attitude, and reason for not quitting, for not letting life beat you down.

August 5th

First I want to take some time
I just want to look at you
Girl you are so fine
I can’t believe you’re mine

from “My My My” by Johnny Gill

Johnny Gill’s big slow jam…just the right mix of loving and doting on your special someone.  And “after all this time” I still feel this way about my wife.

August 6th

You say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us

from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” by Deep Blue Something

Yep…the one hit wonder on the list.  It’s a catch, upbeat sound with a hopeful chorus that runs counter to the breaking up verses.  Can’t blame the singer for trying to hold on…even if it’s a stretch by bringing up a classic film.

August 7th

I’m gonna add some bottom
So that the dancers just won’t hide

from “Dance to the Music” by Sly and The Family Stone

Nothing fancy in the lyrics…it’s more of an intro to the band, but it’s groovy and danceable.
