Music Monday – Seasons Change

Yesterday was the first official day of Autumn this year, which lead me to the topic of seasons changing.  Regardless of how much we may prefer certain weather or times of the year, seasons change.  So does life, attitudes, and feelings…sometimes in our favor, sometimes not.  The key is to roll with the changes.  Gauge where you’re at, where you’re going, and  where you want to be, then adjust your course, as needed.  Don’t let changes throw you off course.  Make the most of each season.

California Dreamin’ by The Mamas & The Papas

(released 1965; peaked #4 US Hot 100, #23 UK Singles)

All the leaves are brown (All the leaves are brown)
And the sky is grey (And the sky is grey)
I’ve been for a walk (I’ve been for a walk)
On a winter’s day (On a winter’s day)
I’d be safe and warm (I’d be safe and warm)
If I was in L.A. (If I was in L.A.)
California dreamin’ (California dreamin’)
On such a winter’s day

Not happy with the cold weather, The Mamas & The  Papas, dreamed of moving to California, the land of eternal sunshine.  They must have heard Tony! Toni! Tone! telling everyone that “It Never Rains in Southern California”.

Seasons Change by Expose’

(released 1987; peaked #1 US Hot 100 & Adult Contemporary, #11 Canada)

Some dreams are in the night time
And some seem like yesterday
But leaves turn brown and fade,
Ships sail away
You long to say a thousand words but
Seasons change

Poor Expose thought they were in a great relationship…in love, but then the season changed on them.
