Music Monday – Vacation

At the beach this week for a vacation.  Just a couple songs today and then off the computer.

Cheeseburger in Paradise by Jimmy Buffett

(released 1978; peaked #32 US Hot 100, #24 Canada)

But at night I’d had these wonderful dreams
Some kind of sensuous treat
Not zucchini, fettuccine or Bulgar wheat
But a big warm bun and a huge hunk of meat

Tonight’s fare featured homemade burgers, and hot dogs, cooked on the grill.  While everyone didn’t load their burgers up like Jimmy, they were good.

Soak Up the Sun by Sheryl Crow
(released 2002; peaked #17 US Hot 100, #5 Adult Contemporary, #7 Ukraine)
I’m gonna soak up the sun
Gonna tell everyone
To lighten up (I’m gonna tell ’em that)
I’ve got no one to blame
For every time I feel lame
I’m looking up
I’m gonna soak up the sun

Played at the beach today…and the pool.

Vacation by The Go-Go’s
(released 1982; peaked #8 US Hot 100, #13 US Mainstream Rock, #17 US Dance, #18 Sweden)

Vacation
All I ever wanted
Vacation
Had to get away

While the sentiment behind the song may be trying to get away from and missing a lover rather than going on a vacation with one’s family, it’s catchy and fun and they say “vacation” a lot.
