Music Monday – Life’s a Beach

Today is the start of the “Life is a Beach” Gauntlet on a poetry site to which I contribute now and then.  The gauntlet is a month (July) of writing a poem a day that will have some focus on a beach, vacation, etc.  My poem (below) for today was a Cinquain.  Taking my cue from the poem for this Music Monday, I’m posting videos about the beach.
Lazy Days

sand, surf,
warming sun rays,
gentle ocean breezes,
welcome to the beginning of

Circle in the Sand by Belinda Carlisle
(released 1988; peaked #4 UK, #5 Canada, #6 Ireland, #7 US Hot 100, #9 Germany)

Circle in the sand, ’round and ’round
Never ending love is what we’ve found
And you complete the heart of me
Our love is all we need
Circle in the sand, circle in the sand

This is my favorite song from Belinda’s Heaven is a Place on Earth album.  I love everything about it…the instrumentation, the lyrics, her voice…it just creates a mood that works for me.
Summer Breeze by Seals & Crofts
(released 1972; peaked #6 US Hot 100, #4 US Adult Contemporary)

Sweet days of summer, the jasmine’s in bloom
July is dressed up and playing her tune

Just close your eyes, listen to the music, and you can almost feel the summer breeze they’re singing about.
Summer Nights by Grease (movie cast)
(released 1978; peaked #1 UK,  #5 US Hot 100, #6 Australia)

She swam by me, she got a cramp
He ran by me, got my suit damp
I saved her life, she nearly drowned
He showed off, splashing around

Summer sun, something’s begun
But, oh, oh, the summer nights

From a great movie, this is a fun, full-cast song that gets it all going.
Velzyland by Kalapana
(released 1989 on their album Walk Upon The Water)

Velzyland is part of a larger stretch of famed surfing area along the Kamehameha Highway on the Hawaiian island Oahu.  This is a jamming tune with some good sax by a talented Hawaiian group.
