Time Well Wasted

For those of you with kids old enough to be into activities, you know how busy you can be on the weekends…going here and there to get from activity to activity, waiting during those activities if they aren’t long enough to go do something else, watching/participating in the activity, helping setup or tear down, etc.  Add visiting friends and family into the mix and weekends can get pretty hectic.

That’s why every time we have a “down day”, I don’t feel compelled to spend it cleaning or straightening or finding something else to do when the kids complain about being bored.  They don’t seem to get the hectic feeling…maybe it’s because they haven’t yet gotten into worrying about being places on time and they don’t have to do the hurry up and wait like we do…not sure.

Even when we don’t have anything scheduled, we’ll usually find something to go do, especially if we have both days of the weekend free.  Like going to the local wildlife museum or amusement park, go see a movie, or go on a walk on a nearby nature trail.

Don’t get me wrong, we don’t neglect chores, and sometimes the house just has to be cleaned, but in the grand scheme of things, I’ll take “Time Well Wasted” over an immaculate house any day.

Here’s Brad Paisley’s “Time Well Wasted.”  Take a few minutes and enjoy…
